Have you been trying to optimize your blog for the Yahoo search engine lately? Have you noticed the huge difference in how websites are ranked in Yahoo compared to how they are ranked in Google? I have also noticed a huge difference in my Yahoo rankings compared to my Google rankings lately for my anhosting coupon blog, and as a result I have been spending more time learning how the Yahoo search engine works, and what steps to take to ensure better Yahoo rankings.
While there are a million things you can do to improve your Yahoo rankings, there are some major ranking factors that have always worked, and I will be sharing 3 of them with you below.
Focus on Your Keywords
That’s the first step, and it is obviously the most important. There is no point in trying to rank your website in a particular search engine when you have no keywords in mind.
The first step you should take when trying to get your website ranked in Yahoo is to focus on your keywords. By this I mean you should have a set of properly researched paying keywords you plan to optimize for, and you should focus your efforts on them.
Make Effective Use of Your Meta Tags (titles, descriptions, keywords etc.)
The next step you should take once your keywords are ready is to make effective use of your meta tags. Your meta tags include your post title, your meta descriptions, your meta keywords, your image attributes and alt tags, and a lot other similar factors. While not all search engines see these tags as important, Yahoo still places great importance on them, and you will get a lot more results by focusing your efforts on them.
Mind you, I’m not trying to tell you to abuse these tags as it can have its consequences.
Realize that Getting a lot of quality "Site-wide" links is key
The final tip is to realize that getting a lot of quality site-wide links is important. It wouldn’t help just to get a lot of unrelated links to your homepage. Instead, you will be able to increase the effectiveness of your efforts by getting related links to various pages on your blog.
Yahoo doesn’t value links as much as Google does, but it sure hates link farms than any search engine does, and it also values related links to other pages on your blog from related sites.
